Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Strategists groups.

Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
